Here in the Denby Dale and Clayton West circuit we aim to care for God's creation in everything we do. All our churches have been awarded at least the Bronze Eco Rocha award with several gaining the Silver award for taking extra measures to reduce their carbon footprint.
St Andrew's in Penistone is the first church in our circuit to have solar panels fitted which we are hopefully take them most of the way on their journey to net zero.
Cawthorne Methodist is currently in talks with local architects and surveyors about the best way to proceed to ensure that the heritage of the building is maintained but that at the same time, energy usage is reduced and the building is well insulated and will continue to be a well used hub for the community for many years to come.
The chapels of the Upper Dearne Methodist Church; Clayton West, Denby Dale, Lower Cumberworth and Skelmanthorpe continue their journey working together as one church with a view to worshipping in one carbon neutral, environmentally friendly community building in the future. Community surveys are being undertaken at present to help determine where the church should be sited.
Every quarter the preaching plan includes at least one outdoor service where members of the circuit join together to worship God in the great outdoors. Past services have included Walking Nativities in Denby Dale, Christingle services in Cannon Hall Park, Open air worship with Cawthorne brass band and children's activities on the village green in Cawthorne and Harvest scavenger hunts in both Cawthorne and Denby Dale.
See this quarter's plan for details of upcoming services.
Join us this Sunday at one of our nine local churches.
